Candied Bacon & Date Grilled Cheese

2 slices eureka!® Saaa-Wheat!® Organic Bread

½ tablespoon butter

2 slices havarti cheese

4 dates, halved

¼ cup green onions, chopped


Candied Bacon Ingredients:

6 slices bacon

¼ cup honey

⅛ teaspoon pepper

  1. Make candied bacon. Preheat oven to 325ºF. Brush one side of each slice of bacon with ⅛ cup honey and sprinkle with pepper. Line baking sheet with parchment paper and place bacon on top, honey side up. Bake about 5-7 minutes. Remove from oven, flip bacon and brush with remaining honey. Cook until bacon is crispy (approximately 10-15 minutes).
  2. Spread butter on 1 side of each bread slice. Set 1 slice, butter side down, in skillet over medium heat. Layer cheese, candied bacon, dates and green onions. Cap with the remaining slice of bread. Cook, flipping intermittently, until cheese is melted and bread is golden brown on both sides (approximately 3-5 minutes).
